Oxford City are pleased to confirm the signing of versatile full-back Joe Wilson from Southern League Premier side Ilkeston Town.
Wilson makes the switch to the Hoops and bolsters Ross Jenkins’ squad as we enter the last two months of the 2022/23 season.
The right-back has been on City’s agenda since he appeared as a trialist for the club in pre-season, and now he’s finally made the move permanent after a successful season in the league below.
City Manager Ross Jenkins, said: “He was a player we kept eyes on last year and in pre-season, he’s gone away and got some minutes under his belt.
“He’s fairly local, has a great attitude and has attributes that we’d like within our team, and he’ll add some good competition within the team towards the back end of the season.
“He’s got some great qualities that we’ve seen and I’m delighted to get him on board.”
After progressing through Reading’s academy, Joe started his senior career with Ilkeston before moving north to join Gainsborough Trinity, becoming a popular member of the side at both clubs.
He returned to Ilkeston this season after being coveted by a number of Step 2 sides, continuing to impress Ross Jenkins with his performances.
Everyone at the club would like to welcome Joe to the club and wish him the best of luck.
Welcome to Oxford City Joe!
