Goalkeeper joins on loan from Solihull Moors.

Oxford City are delighted to announce the signing of Goalkeeper Laurie Walker on loan from Vanarama National League side Solihull Moors.

Walker is a familiar face here at Oxford City after a previous spell between the sticks in the 2015/16 season.

Since leaving the Hoops, Walker has gone on to have a highly successful career in the EFL and non-league football, turning out for the likes of MK Dons, Oldham Athletic, Stevenage and Barnet to name a few.

Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins said: “I’m delighted to get the deal sorted and have Laurie on board.

Laurie brings vast experience to the group that will only help the squad on and off pitch.”

After progressing through MK Dons’ academy, Walker made his senior debut with Cambridge United in the 2009/10 season, but after leaving the Abbey Ground he cut his teeth in non-league with Kettering Town, Brackley Town, Leamington, Hemel Hempstead and here at Oxford City.

He returned to Stadium MK in 2019 but once again found himself in non-league football (albeit further up the pyramid) with loan spells at Hampton & Richmond, Oldham Athletic and Aldershot.

A permanent move to Stevenage followed before he became the first choice at National League side Barnet. He was a mainstay in between the sticks with the Bees, winning the club’s player of the year award in his first season at the Hive.

In the summer, he made the switch to Solihull Moors and once again he’s played a major role in the Moors side’s play-off push this season.

Now, he returns to the MGroup Stadium and will add both experience & leadership to the squad whilst strengthening the already competitive Goalkeeping department at the club.

Walker will wear the number 13 shirt this season. You can sponsor that shirt by contacting gm@oxcityfc.co.uk

Welcome back to Oxford City, Laurie!
