The Young Hoops had to compete with some of the best teams in their age group from around the country and managed to come out on top!
The team represented Oxfordshire as U12’s champions, after an undefeated season in the Oxford Mail Youth Football League A League. Furthermore, the squad excelled in their Cup Tournaments throughout the season, finishing the year unbeaten.
The Aces National Tournament brings together the reigning champions from JPL, MJPL and other top grassroots leagues to take part in the tournament.
However, despite the standard being so high, City’s youngsters managed to top their group and qualify for the latter stages.
Furthermore, the soaring temperatures didn’t seem to faze the team who progressed through to the final after also winning their quarter-final and semi-final matches.
Eventually, the young Hoops defeated Cheshunt in the tournament finale to be crowned champions.
The team’s coach Barry Hayden said; “I couldn’t be happier for the group. Every single player has contributed to the team, and that includes past and present players.
“The team have applied themselves brilliantly and they’ve been outstanding in supporting each other on and off the pitch and their togetherness has been clear to see.
“They’re a pleasure to coach and be around and deserve the title as national champions.”
Everyone at Oxford City FC is extremely proud of what our U12’s Blues have achieved! We'd like to send a huge congratulations to all of our players, on their superb season.
