Starting from today (Monday 27th June), staff will run an average of 7.4 miles a day, as they collectively look to reach the 260M total and raise £2,000.
Of the total raised, 50% will go to the Free Kicks Foundation, a charity whose aim is to provide football-related activities for ill, bereaved and disadvantaged children, giving them a day to remember with their favourite football club.
Whereas, the other 50% will contribute to the running costs of our U23's side, as the club look to continue developing players that have come through our youth system.
Sam Downing, Founder of FKF said: "Free Kicks Foundation would like to thank the coaching staff of Oxford City’s U23 team for their incredible generosity and for thinking of us to be recipients.
"We use all money donated to us to provide exciting and memorable days out for children at football matches all round the country. As we are only a small, independent charity, every penny we receive means so much to us and we have seen first-hand the impact these experiences have on those going through a difficult time.
The donation we receive from the team will be used locally, to allow disadvantaged kids to enjoy watching teams in the Oxford area during the upcoming season."
U23's Manager Lloyd Owers said; "We are doing this 260 mile attempt for two reasons but the most important aspect is the opportunity it provides to the children who have been through so much, when they really should be able to enjoy life’s innocence at that stage."
"The secondary fundraising split is important for a different reason in terms of helping to go towards running costs for our upcoming season."
