Perfect Ten for Oxford City Women

Women Celebrate Mothers Day in Style

An incredible second half performance saw Oxford City Women beat Reading 10-0 at the MGroup Stadium this afternoon despite it being only 1-0 at half time.

A hat trick from top scorer Ellie White, two each from Issy Bradley and Lucy White and strikes from Emma Donohoe, Kitty Crouch, and Ellie Walecki made it a ten out of ten display from the dominant Hoops

Invited to bring their mums. sisters, daughters or women who inspired them to celebrate the day, City made it a fantastic celebration.

Leading through a trademark ‘goal direct from a corner screamer’ from Donohoe, who definitely takes aim for that top corner each time, The Hoops were frustrated to be only one goal to the good after missing several presentable chances to extend the lead,

However, after 50 minutes young striker Crouch rounded the keeper to make it 2-0 and then the floodgates opened. Ellie White made it three as she powered past two defenders, then Bradley made it four and White volleyed home after 70 minutes to make it 5-0.

Reading, having switched their keeper to play centre forward after the break, were powerless as Bradley scored her second of the afternoon with a 25-yard blast for 6-0, Lucy White got in on the action to make it seven, namesake Ellie completed her hat trick after 82 and then Walecki and White (L) again completed the superb 10-0 scoreline to complete a great weekend for the club.

Manager Connor Walton told us:

“We should bave been further ahead at the break but we knew there were more goals to come if we stayed patient. I just maybe didn’t expect nine of them!

“Credit to everyone involved. We askd them to finish the season strongly over the next few games and this was the perfect response, especially with another good crowd of well over 300 here to share it with us.”
