Reaction | Oxford City Women Narrowly Beaten By Ascot

Chris Williams • February 3, 2025

The reaction from yesterday's defeat to the league leaders.

Oxford City Women gave it their all but in the end couldn't quite find a way to end Ascot Women’s unbeaten run this season as the visitors stayed top of the table with a 3-1 win at the MGroup Stadium yesterday.

“I thought it was a really good measure of how far we have come this season” Coach Connor Walton told us. “Ascot are excellent this season but we pushed them all the way all game, Emily Harris scored a really good goal to make it 1-1 and there wasn’t much to choose between the sides for a long time after that.

“They made it 2-1 but we had chances to draw level again and only realy got caught when we pushed too far for an equaliser late on.

“The effort was there and the players can all be proud of that 90 minutes. They hate losing and that’s great because I know they will be looking for a reaction on Sunday when we have another big home game against Woodley.”
