Back to back 3-0 victories over Welling United and Worthing have consolidated the Hoops’ spot in the Vanarama National League South play-offs.
However, Tuesday’s trip to Somerset will no doubt take it’s toll on both players in a busy week of fixtures.
Speaking after the win against Worthing, Jenkins said: “The mood in the group is good and the mood around the club feels good but again we’re one loss away from that mood being scrapped.
“If the boys can recover, do all the things they’ve been doing all season and attack Tuesday with the same mentality, then hopefully we can carry on feeling good.”
Tuesday’s opponents have had a less than ideal spell in the league due to no fault of their own. Taunton have seen multiple fixtures postponed over winter that has led to a fixture pile-up going into the latter stages of the season.
In fact, at one point, City had played a remarkable ten more games than their upcoming opponents.
However, Jenkins believes this has contributed to a ‘false’ position in VNLS and that City will need to be at their very best to get anything from the game.
“They’ve [Taunton] have had a lot of games called off and have a lot of games in hand. I think Lewis Miccio said it best on Saturday, that their league position is a little bit false, and that’s really important to remember.
“From the games that they’ve missed it only takes four or five wins and then they jump straight back up the league.
“We have to forget about the league table and look at the club and the players. It’s important we address that, as they are a good team and it was a really good battle when we played them last.
“They keep their shape well, they’re disciplined and have got energy but the most important thing for us is that we’re physically ready as that was a big shift against Worthing.
“We’ve got to make sure we have the appetite to go down there, on one of our longest journeys of the season and perform. There’s no point in going there and not turning up!
“We need to go there and put some big effort in.”
