Oxford City Women marched into another cup final this afternoon with a superb win at Bournemouth Sports to send them nto the Chairman’ Cup Final.
Already through to the Oxfordshire Senior Cup Final, City clinched their place in another final when an early Emily Harris goal proved enough to fight off a spirited second half from the home side.
Harris, always a livewire, scored the crucial goal after just four minutes when an Emma Donohoe corner was pushed out by the keeper only for Harris to bury it from two yards out.
Harris almost made it two soon after but was inches away from an Ellie White cross before keeper Kiera Maskell came into the action with two good saves to preserve the lead at half time.
With both sides giving it everything in the heat Donohoe needed to be alert to keep out a dangerous free kick but City might have extended their lead when Kitty Crouch saw an effort go just over the bar and then White couldn’t quite convert a Crouch cross.
Bournemouth then applied late pressure but with tension rising City held their nerve to give them two chances of silverware to cap a wonderful season with a final against Abingdon United Devs to follow
