Ross Jenkins had little time to reflect on the outstanding performance from his side after Saturday's impressive victory away at Warrington Town as attentions swiftly turn to Tuesday evening's clash with King’s Lynn Town in Vanarama National League North.
The Linnets make the journey to Court Place Farm for the first of three consecutive midweek matches for Hoops.
Jenkins remarked at the relentless nature of the league and emphasised the need for the players to recover quickly, but he was quietly optimistic that the good form of City will carry over to the meeting with King’s Lynn.
“It’s good to have a home game straight after an away game." He said in the post-match interview from the trip to Warrington.
"The boys will be sore, that’s natural, they’ve put in a real shift. There are some bruises, some cuts, some bumps.”
“The boys have to rest up and recover. We will turn up and try put in another good performance because that’s what they need to be doing, it’s what’s required, and they know that now.”
Jenkins has previously mentioned the positive signs coming from the players on the pitch and the results have reflected those signs and he is confident they can take all three points from the game on Tuesday, he said: “They’ve set their own standards from today and we go again.
"The league is relentless, there is no easy game in any league but if we turn up and apply ourselves like that, the result will look after itself.”
