Manager previews the weekend's trip to Greater-Manchester.

Ross Jenkins has said that he wants his side to play with freedom as Oxford City prepare to travel to Rochdale on Saturday (3:00pm kick-off).

The City Manager has said that his side have had no pressure on them throughout the season, but is now calling for the Hoops to enjoy their football and get back to the style of football that proved so successful last season.

Rochdale edged a tight encounter between the two sides in City’s first home game of the season after Ian Henderson’s goal secured a 1-0 win for the Dale.

However, Jenkins has reiterated the need for his squad to relax, enjoy their football and believe in their ethos.

If City can do that, he believes a result won’t be too far away.

Speaking to www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk Jenkins said:

“We go there with good intent to play our brand of football and put our mark on the game.

“We’ll go there with good enthusiasm and everyone is in good spirits.

“I don’t think we’ve had any pressure (on the team throughout the season).

“I don’t want the boys to feel too relaxed and I don’t want them to be unbothered, but I want them to play in a relaxed way, enjoy football and do the things that got us here (the National League).

“That’s by playing our brand of football and believing what we do, and not by being shy.

“If you think about what you always don’t want to do, you make mistakes.

“It’s important that the boys enjoy what they do, so they can go out and show they’re still capable of playing at this level.

“If they show the good things they did on the pitch last season, we’ll perform well.

“We can walk around with our heads held high if we do that.

“If we go into our shell then that’ll be a real disappointment.”
