Oxford City defender Tom Harrison has said that the Hoops will have to be at their best to get the better of Scarborough Athletic at the weekend.

City will make the mammoth trip to Yorkshire to face the Seadogs in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round, with a place in the first round ‘proper’ at stake.

However, despite the difference in divisions, Harrison isn’t taking anything for granted and understands how good the National League North is.

“Everyone loves the FA Cup.” Said Harrison.

“It’s one of the reasons people start playing football to go on.

“We probably got stitched up a little bit being included in the northern section of the draw but we’re a tight knit group and the journey will make us closer.

“We’re really looking forward to it, it’s going to be a difficult game but every game is going to be difficult so we’ve got to approach it with that mind-set.

“We’re used to being the underdogs in these competitions and we thrive on that. However, I wouldn’t class Scarborough as a lesser team.

“We were promoted last year and they’re in that division and we know how good those leagues are.

“They’re going to be a good team. National League North is a really difficult league and it’s going to be a good game.

“The leagues get tougher each year. When I was at Gloucester (in the NLN) it was a difficult league with a lot of strong teams and it’s the same this year.”

City are no strangers to FA Cup scalps. Fans will fondly remember First Round giant-killings against Colchester United & Northampton Town in recent years.

The team could secure a place in the first round ‘proper’ for a second consecutive season, but Harrison is hoping for a good performance to match a result.

“It’s the cup so we’ll be wanting to do everything to win, especially in the FA Cup where anything can happen.

“I think the thing we’ll need to look after is the performance and hopefully that will look after the result. I think we’re good enough to do it!
