With ten goals and ten assists to his name, some would say that Ashby was a 'shoe-in' for the end of season all-star team.
"I couldn't have done it without the team," said Ashby.
"We've performed so well over the course of the season and the place in the team reflects the effort from all of us.
"Looking back at the season everyone has had a part to play and if i'm honest, I'm surprised there's not one or two more names in the squad from the team."
Ashby has been somewhat of a stalwart for City in his time with the clubs and like a fine wine he seems to get better as he ages.
The vote was cast by all 21 clubs across Vanarama National League South with Ashby gaining a spot in the team of the season alongside Goalkeeper Ben Dudzinski.
"It's great to see Ben in there too.
"The defence has been something we've prided ourselves on this season and it's nice to see that our work has been recognised.
"We've had a great team spirit this season and that showed in the dressing room and with the coaching staff so we should all be proud."
Congratulations Josh!
