Vanarama National League South, February 2021

Fast-forward to the Hoops impressive 2020/21 season, a big 4-0 win against Hungerford seen the Hoops move up to 4th in the Vanarama National League South.

The Hoops set the tone early at Marsh Lane with James Roberts narrowly missing the target following a great driving run.

Harvey Bradbury opened the scoring on the 34th minute after good work from Josh Ashby to win the ball back in midfield, lofting the ball over the Hungerford defence for Bradbury to fire home beyond the goalkeeper.

The hoops doubled their lead shortly after the break, where Michael Elechi marked his debut with an assist when he crossed the ball in from the left for Bradbury to poke home for his brace.

David Oldfield’s side finished the game off when Alfie Potter added a third from a James Roberts cross, before Roberts finished off the scoring himself when he rounded the goalkeeper to roll the ball into an empty net in the 89th minute.

Vanarama National League South, December 2016

Casting our minds back to a rain-soaked Marsh Lane in December 2016, Hungerford fans may remember the Hoops slumping to their heaviest defeat of the season.

The Hoops started strong and the game could have been different if Scott Davies scored an early penalty, when Mike Fondop was fouled in the box inside 3 minutes.

After Hungerford goalkeeper George Legg saved the spot-kick, the visitors went on to punish the missed opportunity on 12 minutes when Nicholas Bignall opened the scoring.

The Hoops went on to see their fair share of possession for the remainder of the 1st half but failed to find an equaliser, with a Godfrey Poku header hitting the crossbar before James Roberts and Mike Fondop drawing good saves from the Hungerford goalkeeper.

However, despite the Hoops efforts, Hungerford raced into a 4-0 lead early in the 2nd half with 3 goals inside 10 minutes.

Hungerford’s Harry Goodger and ex-Hoops player Louis Soares topped off a miserable afternoon for the Hoops, both getting their braces after the 80 minute mark.
