Manager previews Sunday's clash against Oxford United Women.

Ahead of Sunday’s Oxfordshire Women’s Cup Final against Oxford United, Oxford City Women’s Manager Connor Walton has said that he’s hoping his side can show what they’re capable of against the Yellows.

United play two divisions above the Hoops in the pyramid, and in recent years have pushed for promotion to the WSL.

Nevertheless, despite the David versus Goliath esque match up, Walton is hoping that his side can showcase their quality on the pitch.

“I definitely think it [getting to the final] shows how strong the group has been this year.” He told www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk.

“We’ve finished the season in a strong position and Sunday is going to be a very tough test against a very experienced Oxford United team two leagues above us.

“They’ve been in good form in recent years. However, it’s a cup competition, so who knows what can happen on the day.

“We’re preparing our players so they can be mentally and physically prepared for the game and why we’re going to play that way and with the purpose behind it.

“It’s definitely one of those games where our players can shine and show their overall quality on the pitch.

“I think it’ll be a great day out for our players and hopefully they can show how good a season it has been for our players.

“Everyone will have a chance to play and everyone will have a point to prove as they’ll want to show what their qualities are.”

The Oxfordshire Women’s Cup Final will take place at Kidlington FC (Yarnton Road, OX5 1AT) on Sunday 28th April at 3:30pm.

Tickets are available on the turnstile at Kidlington FC. Come and cheer on the girls as we bid for victory!
