Midfielder reaches latest landmark.

They say loyalty is dead in football. Not at Oxford City.

Josh Ashby has reached a remarkable milestone in his career after reaching 250 appearances for the club.

Ashby’s consistent contributions to the team are just a handful of reasons that his commitment is worth celebrating!

Ashby's affiliation with City began in June 2018 when he signed a one-year contract with the club. Since then, he has become an integral part of the squad, consistently delivering outstanding performances on the pitch.

One of the standout moments in Josh Ashby's career came during the 2020–21 season when he etched his name in the history books. A thrilling encounter against Northampton Town saw Ashby step up and score the winning penalty, leading the Hoops to a memorable 2–1 victory in the first round of the FA Cup.

There's been many other memorable moments too. His goal in the National League South Play-Off Final, any one of his numerous free-kicks that he's bent into the top corner, or even leading City out of the tunnel as captain.

Reflecting on his time at Oxford City, Ashby highlighted the strong bonds amongst the players.

He told www.oxfordcityfc.co.uk: "There’s a core group of local lads who have been together for four to five seasons, and it’s great to play the game you love with your best mates."

He added, "These friendships have been key in creating a positive dynamic within our squad."

Throughout his journey, 'Ash' (as he's commonly known around the squad) has experienced numerous highs and lows, but there are certain moments that stand out as particularly significant in his mind.

"The promotion season of 2022–23 stands as an achievement in itself," he added.

"But winning the play-off final was one of the best days on my life!"

Ashby has played a pivotal role in Oxford City’s success. His performance in the play-off final, where he found the back of the net, will forever be a moment in history for the club.

Despite the challenges faced in the 2023–24 season, competing in the National League was a commendable experience, and despite injury, Ashby embraced the opportunity for growth.

For Josh, reaching 250 appearances is more than just a milestone – it's a testament to his dedication and passion for the game, on and off the pitch.
