New Home Improvement Group back Oxford City FC's Powerchair Football Initiative

New Home Improvement Group pledges their support.

Oxford City are pleased to welcome New Home Improvement Group as official sponsors of our new PowerChair Football initiative.

Powerchair Football is a unique sport that provides opportunities for people with a high level of impairment to access the game of football. It is the only active team participation sport for people who use electric wheelchairs.

The club will work alongside the FA and The Wheelchair Football Association (WFA) and this Sunday will see the second session at Court Place Farm, with new Home Improvement Group helping us to expand and grow this and allow more people to become involved

James Gilmore, who has set up the PowerChair sessions told us:

“The first meeting was fantastic and the feedback was quite humbling really.

"It is something that allows even more people to play football and it wasn’t just the players who enjoyed it, the families were so positive about the impact this will have.

“It is something we believe will grow and grow. New Home Improvement Group share our community values and when we explained what we were doing and what our plans are they immediately offered to help with new equipment and support, which we thank them for.

"We look forward to expanding both our partnership with New Home Improvement Group and our Powerchair Football sessions”.

Darren Field of New Home Improvement Group told us

“There is so much great work happening at Oxford City and the way they make football accessible for so many people is inspiring.

"If we can help people in Oxford play the game, and make a difference to their lives, then that is great to see. We look forward to coming along to meet everyone and helping this brilliant initiative grow.”

Powerchair Football is for anyone who uses a powered wheelchair or those who have limited movement in a manual wheelchair.

The sport is fast-paced, dynamic and very enjoyable to watch. The unique nature of Powerchair Football allows all ages, disabilities and genders to compete together. If you would like to take part then email jgilmore@oxcityfc.co.uk
