MATCH REPORT: Oxford City 1-4 St Albans City
Oxford City bowed out of the FA Trophy after a 4-1 defeat to National League South High-flyers St Albans City.
Joe Iaciofano’s second-half header wasn’t enough for City on the day, as A Shaun Jeffers’ hat-trick and Kyran Wiltshire's goal sealed the win for the visitors.
Charlie Rowan was also shown a straight red card in controversial circumstances after referee Ben Atkinson deemed the defender had stamped on St Albans’ Bayley Brown.
It was City who started the brighter of the two. Harvey Bradbury and Harry Kyprianou both tried their luck but couldn’t find an opener.
Against the run of play, the Saints opened the scoring. Zico Asare was dispossessed by Jeffers on the edge of the Hoops’ box and his following shot took a huge deflection off a Hoops shirt to wrong-foot Dudzinski and land in the net.
City fought back however and Josh Ashby was agonisingly close to levelling the score. His free-kick from 25-yards out flew inches wide of the mark.
The Hoops were pressing for an equaliser but on the stroke of half-time David Oldfield’s side were hit with a sucker punch.
City failed to deal with Romeo Akinola’s cross and Jeffers had the freedom of the six-yard box to volley the ball home, leaving Dudzinski with no chance.

The Hoops came flying out of the traps after the interval, pressing from the front and causing the visitors problems and they got their just rewards almost instantly.
Ashby’s cross into the box was pin-point accurate for the onrushing Iaciofano who headed into the bottom corner to half the deficit.
However, City’s joy was short lived. Moments later, Dudzinski was adjudged to have brought down Akinola and referee Atkinson showed no hesitation in pointing to the spot.
Jeffers stepped up and tucked the ball into the bottom corner to seal his hat-trick.
Things went from bad to worse for City on sixty eight minutes when Rowan was shown a straight red card. A scuffle between Brown and Rowan seemingly saw the latter intercept the ball. However, City’s number 6 was shown a straight red-card for his efforts to the bemusement of the City squad.
Eight minutes from time and the visitors added a fourth. Former Hoop Kyran Wiltshire finishing off a counter-attack to slot past Dudzinski.
The Hoops now look to bounce back in the league against Ebbsfleet United on Tuesday evening in another top of the table clash.
