ROSS JENKINS | THE BOYS ARE READY TO GO

January 5, 2023

Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins has said that his players are 'ready to go' ahead of a tough game on Saturday against promotion hopefuls St Albans City.

Last time out; an 89th minute equaliser from Slough Town snatched what would’ve been an impressive victory from the Hoops on New Year’s Day.

However, the City boss has said that the feel-good factor amongst the squad is back and the team are ready to go again on Saturday.

“From the players’ attitude, to the way they’ve been talking to each other, they know their standards and we’re better than that,” said Jenkins.

“The boys have trained well this week and it’s shown that they’ve put the Slough results behind them. The players’ standards are high and we know that the standards dropped and that’s unacceptable.

“We have a very proud group and the result against Slough really dented me and it dented the players too, and we don’t want to feel like that again.

“We’re going to make sure we’re ready for St Albans as the game is going to be a battle.

“The boys know their levels and they’ve been really good over the course of the season and I couldn’t ask for more from them.

“They’ve given me everything and taken it upon themselves in games to make things happen. They’ve listened and learnt in training and I think the target of where we are right now is credit to them.

“We aim for this sort of position and we’re here so now we need to make sure we stay here and move upwards.

“The boys are ready to go, training was good, the atmosphere and feel-good factor was back and we know our standards and that we need to improve ready for St Albans.”
