Ross Jenkins has said that his Oxford City side need to focus on themselves ahead of Saturday’s trip to Ebbsfleet United in the Vanarama National League.
The Hoops are coming up against familiar opponents for what seems like the first time this season, after the two clubs faced off in the National League South in the previous two campaigns.
However, Jenkins has said that Ebbsfleet are not the team that City are used to playing.
A number of high profile signings have come through the Kuflink Stadium’s doors over the summer to compliment an already talented squad, and Saturday’s clash will no doubt be a tough game to navigate through.
However, as eluded too, Jenkins has said that his squad need to focus on their strengths to get something out of the weekend’s match.
“I think it’s an interesting game.” Jenkins said.
“Last season, Ebbsfleet were very good. I think they were too strong.
“They made some really good signings and they had the finances to back it up. This season they’ve made some even better signings.
“Jordan Ibe is a very experienced and quality player, and they’ve made four or five additions of real quality.
“They’ve got a really strong striker in Dominic Poleon, who we know from last season and is always a goal threat.
“They play a brand of football that we’re used to playing against, so we’re fully aware of what they can do.
“However, we need to concentrate on ourselves. We did that against Woking and we got a result, so we need to understand what they can do, but put our marker on them at some points.
“It’s a hard place to go to, so we need to be wary of that. The result will come, whatever that may be, but the performance needs to be there.”
“They started really well and I thought that they’re going to be up there in the table, but football is cruel sometimes and they’ve played really well and not quite got the results. A bit like us!
“We know they’re a good team but we have to address it as a clean slate, forget anything we’ve done against them in the past, so hopefully we can go down there and put on a good display.”
