Reece Fleet on his Ebbsfleet stunner

Ethan Gough • December 1, 2021

Reece Fleet has said that his volley in Tuesday night's win agains Ebbsfleet was one of the best of his career.

Reece Fleet produced a piece of magic to secure the three points for City in a huge crunch match for both promotion hopeful's.

On the stroke of half-time the captain struck a volley from the edge of the box which dipped into the top corner. An unstoppable shot and it was enough to give City the edge over the Fleet. After the game, 'Fleety' gave us his thoughts.

“It’s probably up there (as one of his best goals)." he said.

"It fell to me on the edge of the box and I was lucky to hit it sweet enough and for it to go past the goalkeeper.”

“However, what a performance it was from the lads and everyone dug deep. The squad was ridiculous tonight, we were so good.”

“The lads on the bench were pushing everyone too.”

Fleet is a longest serving player in the Hoops squad and has seen many players come and go in his time. However, this season he says, has been one of the better sides he has been involved in.

“It was all down to the team performance, you could pick anyone and they were unbelievable. We have a never say die attitude as you could see today, we fought until the end.”

“It’s a joy to be a part of. The lads work hard in training and obviously they’re (Ebbsfleet) a very good side and the best side in the league we’ve played so far.”

“There was resilience from the lads to dig deep.”

City travel to Hungerford Town on Saturday looking to continue their unbeaten run before returning to the Velocity Stadium on the 11th December as they face Chippenham Town. You can buy your tickets by clicking
